Impact Risk is a risk and resilience consultancy that helps organisations and communities make better financial and operational decisions under uncertainty from floods, earthquakes, landslides, and other hazards. We bridge hazard science, engineering, finance, and data analytics to translate complex risk models into clear choices: what to prioritise, what it costs, what risk it reduces, and what can wait.
Impact Risk is community-oriented by design. We believe risk information should not only serve institutions, but also the people living with the consequences. We develop practical tools and participatory workflows that make risk understandable and usable for households, local agencies, and grassroots organisations, enabling bottom-up adaptation and risk reduction.
Hi, I’m Preetish. I hold a PhD in earthquake engineering and am currently a postdoctoral researcher at University College London. My work sits at the intersection of earth sciences, engineering, and risk modelling, with a simple aim: turning technical risk into information that can actually guide decisions. Impact Risk is where we bring these strands together to produce clear, practical outputs for organisations and communities.
Over the years, I’ve worked on projects examining the economic and social impacts of earthquakes on the built environment, including projects that have informed seismic risk reduction and resilience planning across different settings. I’m especially interested in scenario design, portfolio risk assessment, and decision support.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me hiking, escaping for short road trips, or planning bigger ones. I also enjoy cooking new dishes when I’m back home, ideally after a long day outdoors.
Hi, I’m Pratim. I have a Master’s degree in Earthquake Engineering and over six years of experience in catastrophe modelling and applied research. I currently work as a Product Manager at the Global Earthquake Model (GEM) Foundation, where I help turn complex hazard and risk science into tools that real users can trust and apply.
At Impact Risk, I focus on bridging hazard science, exposure modelling, and risk analytics, particularly for emerging and data-constrained regions, starting with India. My past work spans urban seismic risk assessment, loss estimation, and exposure modelling, including government-sanctioned research and international collaborations. I’m most motivated by the “last mile” of risk: building workflows and products that make quantified risk usable for policy, finance, and resilience planning.
Beyond the desk, I enjoy travelling, exploring new places, and chasing ideas, often around food, business, and long walks that turn into longer conversations.
Hi, I’m Chandasmita. I hold an MBA in Finance and have six years of professional experience in credit research and financial analysis. My work sits at the intersection of finance, risk assessment, and decision-making, with a focus on how businesses perform under uncertainty and how risk translates into real constraints, from creditworthiness to access to capital.
I bring a financial lens that complements physical and catastrophe risk analysis, helping connect hazard-driven impacts to balance sheets, cash flows, and investment choices. Previously, I worked as a credit research analyst, evaluating company fundamentals, industry dynamics, and key risk drivers to support investment and lending decisions across sectors. This background helps me frame resilience not only as a technical goal, but as a practical, financeable pathway.
Away from work, I enjoy exploring new places, learning continuously, and spending time on ideas at the intersection of finance, strategy, and long-term planning.
